Councilmember J. Christopher Demarest

I am a generational Keyport native! My Mom June and Father Jay were raised in Union Beach , my mom on Bayview Ave and my father on Park Ave ! They married and moved to Keyport, bought a house on Luppatatong Ave and resided there for many years, I was born and brought home there in February of 1965! I attended The Keyport little school as called, was my Kindergarten and first grade home in West Keyport! I moved on to the Central school for second through eighth grade and had many a good experiences with friends from all walks of life. Upon graduation, I attended Keyport High School before finishing at SJV! This town has meant so much to me as I have traveled the country chasing my dream of being a college football coach , however always being drawn back to the place where it all started , my hometown of Keyport NJ ! I believe as many do the location of our town is magical, and it’s one of a kind! My Mother used to take me by bus to see her Mom and Dad, my grandparents in Union Beach and thought I was heading somewhere far away, although it was only a town over! There is great history between Union Beach and Keyport and I would love to restore that! My grandfather was Police Commissioner of Union Beach and has a street named after him behind the Police Station called Haug St my grandfather’s last name! The town of Keyport has always brought out the Best in people and I want to continue that. There are so many untapped resources in our town of Keyport and I want to reach into it and bring it alive. There have been so many great families in this town some have moved away but the rich history of this town keeps it on their minds, many memories and many more to be made , let’s do this together , Our Town Keyport , NJ !!!
