Welcome to the Keyport Garden Club

The borough is proud to announce the creation of the Keyport Garden Club. Founded in January of this year, the club looks to encourage civic pride in the community and enhance the natural beauty of Keyport’s neighborhoods, public spaces and highway corridors.

The newly formed group of over twenty-five residents has wasted no time this month getting the Library grounds prepped and planted for the upcoming Memorial Day Ceremony that takes place in front of the Library’s monuments every year. It isn’t uncommon to see as many as twenty people raking, shoveling and planting the shrub and perennial gardens on weekday evenings for the historic building whose entranceways have recently received a facelift equipped with seating areas and a new retaining wall.  Additional projects are planned for landscaping several of the “Welcome to Keyport” signs along the highway areas. The club also looks forward to developing more projects in the future including educational events and project planning for the Borough’s newly renovated Waterfront Promenade and Park.

The KGC, a not for profit organization, is entirely supported by membership and resident donations whether monetary or by providing plants, shrubs and supplies. The KGC is currently seeking sponsorships in an effort to support specific upcoming projects as well.

Annual membership fees are as follows:
Individual (active) $15
Family (active) $25
“Friends of ..” (nonactive) $25
Memberships dues are tax deductible

Meetings for the KGC are held every fourth Tuesday at 7PM in Borough Hall. All are welcome to attend and gardening experience is not necessary. To request more information, become a member or make a donation to the KGC please call 732-739-5124.
